BOCUSE D'OR CONTEST

The birth date of the most prestigious professional gastronomy event the Bocuse d´Or was founded more then 20 years ago.
24 chefs from around the world take part in this live competition in front of a huge audience, they have to prepare 2 perfect dishes in five and half hours which they have to present the professional judges. The stake is high, the best of the world compete for the Bocuse golden statue and the incredible prizes.

The participant countries, after the national selection take part with one team. Members of the team:

Chef – Executive chef, at least 23 years old
Commis – assistant, not older then 22 years
Coach – trainer and coach, who assists and helps the team but is not allowed to take part in the actual work nor is he/she allowed to enter the kitchen during the competition.

The members of the team represent their country!

The participants of the competition work in the 18m2 – fully equipped kitchen which stands in front of the spectators. The team have to finish in five and half hours and present the first course –and 35 minutes later the second dish- to the 24 members of the jury. The participants of the competition serve one after each other in a 10 minute time difference. The jury is judging in a 60 point system /40 points go for the flavours-taste, harmony, condition, 20 points for presentation/ and additional 20 points can be added for the work in the kitchen, hygiene which the Committee will check.

The Bocuse d’Or Prizes in Lyon:

20.000 EUR to the winner, and the golden Bocuse statue which represents the best in the world,
15.000 EUR for the second
10.000 EUR for the third
Special prize for the best Fish dish
Special prize for the best Meat dish
Special prize for the best commi
And there are several other prizes as well.

Before the competition in Lyon, the prizes of the Bocuse d’Or Europe are similar high. The Bocuse d’Or Europe competition takes place in Geneva on January 7-8th 2010 with 20 countries taking part.

The Bocuse d’Or Hungary takes place before the competition in Geneva, where never seen high prizes will be given away to those representing our country Hungary, in Geneva. The notice will appear soon on the web site. The Bocuse d’Or Hungary takes place on the 21-22nd February 2010 at the Hungexpo.
