Press of conference regarding the future of the Bocuse d’Or

The Hungarian Bocuse d’Or and the Hungexpo Zrt. has invited the press to give a detailed report on one of the biggest Hungarian chef contests. At the press conference was also Yves Hunckler one of the main organizers, who came especially to this event from Lyon, he gave a brief overlook of the Bocuse d´Or Academy’s tasks and targets and further on he reassured Hungary of their full support.

Kálmán Kalla honourable chairman spoke about the professional part of the competition. A matter of curiosity is that the Bocuse d’Or Europe 2010 in Geneva will follow the already introduced example of serving, which is identical to the ones used in restaurants. The Bocuse d’Or goes with the trend – said Mr. Kalla and added further to it: we of course will introduce this important detail into the Hungarian competitions as well.

Vilmos Kreil the chairman of the Academy talked about the already established intellectual capital and introduced a part of the group of people who will help select the participants for the competition:

- Gatteano Graziano – Chef and owner of the Krízia Restaurant
- Laurent Vandenameele – Executive chef of the Le Meridien
- Hülber Miklós – Café Erté

The briefing of the chairman included the future of the Academy. Vilmos Kreil also mentioned that the winner of Bocuse d’Or Hungary organized on February 21st and 22nd in 2010 will receive never seen prizes. Highlighting some of them below:

- high prize money, never seen before in the Hungarian gastronomy competitions
- Gastronomy trip around Europe, with stops in 3 Michelin star Restaurants
- before the competition in Switzerland “practice camp” in Geneva, where the competitions takes place

and the most important: training, education and preparation possibilities in 1-2-3 star Restaurants in Europe and from the best of the Bocuse d’Or, sponsored by the Hungarian Bocuse d’Or Academy

Following the briefing from the chairman the ceremonial signing of the contract happened, in which the Academy and the Hungexpo Zrt. agreed on the details of 2010 Budapest competition. The contract was signed by Vilmos Kreil and Benoit Barbault the commercial director of the Hungexpo Zrt.

After the press conference András Kele the director of Exhibition at the Hungexpo gave a briefing on the Foodapest exhibition which happens to be at the same time as the Bocuse d’Or competition, further ha talked also about the first Junior confectioner world competition hold in Hungary.

Executive meeting at the Hungexpo

On the 1st April 2009 the French organizers of the Bocuse d´Or once again came to Hungary. The Bocuse d’Or Academy organized their meeting on this day, so the special guest for this day were the members of the National Bocuse d’Or Academy. Our guests presented each member a “package” of Paul Bocuse, a signed poster. These posters will decorate our soon to be opened office.
